These committees are committed to the excellence here at Highland Catholic School. Board of Directors – The Board of Directors includes representatives from Lumen Christi Catholic Community, the Pastor and Principal. They are ultimately responsible for Highland Catholic School and approve the Mission Statement and long-range plan for the school, adopt any changes to the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of the Corporation and act in a consultative role with the Pastor and Principal.
School Advisory Council
The Highland Catholic School Advisory Council is an advisory group to the principal and is responsible for recommending school policies. The board includes the Canonical Administrator, members of the school and parish community, a teacher representative and the principal. School Advisory Council meetings are open to members of the school community. Specific personnel issues are not discussed at open meetings. Meetings are held monthly. The principal and the Canonical Administrator appoint members from a pool of parishioners indicating interest in the Parish Time and Talent Survey. The current list of committee members can be found in the school directory.
Home & School Committee
Highland Catholic School’s Home and School Committee is an inclusive and welcoming group of Highland Catholic School parents, caregivers, and staff with representation spanning PreK- 8th grades. Our goal is to contribute our time, passion, and ideas to create a thriving school community at Highland Catholic. All are welcome and any level of contribution is greatly appreciated!
Our primary function is to raise money to support the following:
Teacher and staff annual holiday bonuses
School funding requests (e.g. classroom improvements)
Teacher Wish List requests
8th grade scholarships for Catholic High School (2-3, $500 awards)
Parent/Guardian Seminars
Hospitality
We do this through the following annual efforts:
Holiday Greenery and Wreath Sales (October/November)
Retail and Restaurant Partnerships – e.g. “Takeout Tuesdays” and Evereve Shopping Events
Spring Plant Sale/Gerten’s Gift Cards (April/May)
Spirit Wear Sale
Book Fair
In addition to fundraising, the Home & School Committee spearheads ways to support both our parent/caregiver communities, as well as, our amazing teachers/staff. We sponsor speakers and workshops on various topics relevant to parents/caregivers of younger PreK 5 students, as well as, middle schoolers.
We organize Teacher Appreciation Week celebrations
We look for ways to spread sunshine and support to our families experiencing life changes
